Everyone at Bay Insurance are saddened to lose Lorna but she is moving to the other side of Marquette to be nearer her husband's work and affordable housing. She has been an incredible asset and we wish her well!
You may remember, that the State of Michigan authorized a $400 per a vehicle refund check. At that time, the Michigan Catastrophic Claims Association (MCCA) had a $5 billion surplus. Now, the MCCA has a deficit of $3.7 billion for several reasons: the overturning of no-fault cost controls, the recent decline in the stock market, and the $400 refund checks.
The MCCA will raise the cost of each vehicle insured in Michigan by $48. This new fee is set to begin on July 1st,2023.
This has nothing to do with the agent or insurance company. This is not a "rate hike". It is the State of Michigan that is assessing this fee/tax.
